STUDIO PHILOSOPHY & STYLE
Pure photography.
That was the comment I was told about my photographic style when I asked someone for feedback. It was the single best compliment a photographer could ask for. To be told that the artistic medium within which you express yourself is the PUREST form of it is something I think every great artist strives for.
Pure photography.
That is what you will get if you book me for your wedding, your event, your portrait, anything I photograph. I credit my youth and years of studying great illustrators and artists in both the fantasy and comic genres to give my eye a unique ability to find and capture bold, dynamic, expressive and true to life photographs. I was asked once if I do any processing of my images and I do, but not as heavily as many other photographers. I try to keep to a pure photojournalistic style that records the truth of a scene, while at the same time using great composition to tell a story and slight digital enhancement to make my subjects look their very best. I think if there has been a downside to photography going digital, it is that the image has now become so perfected and manipulated reality almost looks unreal. My style emphasizes staying true to the people and places I encounter, while enhancing without distorting the subjects of my photographs.
As a person, you will be hiring a photographer that has a classicly stylish, stylishly classic approach to weddings. I keep my presence low key and unobtrusive. Being the sole photographer for your wedding, there is very little distraction for your family and guests. I work quietly from a distance with grace and confidence, never in a rush, but mindful of needing to keep to a schedule to make sure your wedding day runs smoothly. I don’t impose anything on my couples and prefer to let them express themselves naturally. I don’t take a super extroverted couple and have them standing in poses without moving for hours. I don’t take a quiet and introverted couple and have them running around or hanging from tree branches. The best way for me to capture photographs that truly reflect you as human beings is to just go with the flow. With this relaxed approach, your photos will never look stiff, strained or uncomfortable. This results in truly amazing and authentic photographs without looking overly predictable, repetitive, staged, artificial or contrived.
I thank you for taking the time to learn more about the photographer you are considering to photograph your wedding. I have five years of experience with weddings and look forward to many more. Please review my portfolio of work, my pricing and if you have any questions or would like to setup a consultation, just email or call me anytime. I look forward to working with you.
